Special Programs Information

RTI: Response to Intervention is a multi-tier approach that aims to identify struggling students early and help them close the learning gaps. If you feel your child is struggling, please set up a conference with your child's teacher and we can further discuss your concerns as a team.
Bilingual Education: Dual language is a form of education in which students are taught literacy and content in two languages. We are strong advocates of our Bilingual program and feel that Bilingualism not only opens many doors for our students, but it provides students with an enhanced awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity.
Section 504: "To be protected under Section 504, a student must be determined to: (1) have a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities; or (2) have a record of such an impairment; or (3) be regarded as having such an impairment. Section 504 requires that school districts provide a free appropriate public education (FAPE) to qualified students in their jurisdictions who have a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities".
Special Education: Special Education is a tailored form of instruction that addresses the unique needs of an eligible student. Special education encompasses, but is not limited to: Speech, Dyslexia, Behavior, and other Specific Learning Disabilities. Special education is provided at no cost to parents and includes the related services a student needs to access her/his educational program.
